Meet the Team:
Martin Corey (Community Development, Culture and Education)

Martin has many strings to his bow. An experienced Community Development worker, he was with East Leeds Health For All for several years, setting up the Tower Block Project, Trackmasters and providing the initial momentum for the Flatlands project. A qualified teacher, he now works for the Swarthmore Education Centre. His contacts in education will be vital in setting up courses like Basic Skills, Arts classes and computing. He is a musician and performance poet in his own right who uses the stage name Tina Love, (as he often does his act in drag).
Our Arts Team
Writer Bernie Hare acheived critical acclaim with his shocking memoir Urban Grimshaw and the Shed Crew, which is about homeless kids living on the streets of Leeds. He is keen to foster writing at all levels, from basic skills in literacy to getting local writers published. More.
Dave Liversidge is the Flatlands music man. Poet, singer-songwriter and performer, he is active on the local music circuit and his enthusiasm is infectious. More.
Actor Jerry Appleyard recently finished a drama course in London and is directing our film project with Vera Media. (More info on our Media page.) Jerry suffers from MS and intends to set up a Flatlands theatre company for disabled people. More.
Our Proposed Venue

The old rent office, Cromwell Street, Lincoln Green, Leeds 9.
To get to the venue by car, come off the Inner Ring Road/A64 at the Woodpecker Junction and head towards St James's hospital. Turn left at the first crossroads you hit, then Cromwell Street is on your left 400 metres down Lincoln Green Road. By bus, get the 42 from the Headrow or Eastgate and get off at the Harp. Buses 4, 49 and 50 also stop nearby.
Inside, there is a large hall (30mx15m) suitable for meetings, courses, creches, exhibitions, rehearsals, performances, groups, you name it. There are five small offices, which are available at peppercorn rents to affiliated community groups and social enterprises, but get your name down quick as they are expected to go like hot cakes. There are kitchen and toilet facilities and the building is accessible to the disabled. Refreshments will be available throughout the day for the weary traveller through Lincoln Green.
Drop in and meet us, or better still join us.
