More Cultural and Arts pages will be added as people come forward and tell us what they want to do. If you would like to get involved in running a group or simply take part in a group contact us soon. Whether you are into animation, antiques, architecture, body art, comics, costumes, crafts, dance, digital art, graphic design, illustrations, knitting, movies, native or tribal art, opera, origami, performance art, photography, radio, sculpture, television, theatre, video, visual art, or any other form of art you can think of, pop in and meet us and take a look at our facilities. You can run your own chosen section, develop your own ideas and put them into practice in the community. All of which can only look good on your CV.
Culture
The West Yorkshire Playhouse spring and summer season programme 2006 includes Hedda Gabler, Henry VI, Scuffer, East is East, West Side Story, the Wizard of Oz, Richard III, the Northern Exposure series and Bad Girls. As the Playhouse is only a few hundred yards from our venue, we will soon be approaching them for free/reduced tickets and to see if they are amenable to collaborative projects.
The Performance Centre at the University of Leeds is a little-known venue with many exciting productions. Worth checking out. Box Office 0113 9246.
Arts
Zine 'Art and Life' is a free indy mag that aims to showcase new writers and artists in Leeds. Anyone can email work for consideration. They also want to hear from photographers, artists or musicians with work to promote. Past themes have been Love & Sex, Scandal, Beauty & Vanity, and Time. There are music reviews, interviews, creative writing and local art. The mag may fold soon as two of the editorial team are off to the states, while a third has found herself a job in the local media. There's a lot of work involved, but if we can put together an editorial team, we may be able to take over this established mag. It really is a good read and it's a shame to let it fold.
